This multitalented Indonesian sweetheart first appeared in HAI Magazine (Cewek Hai) back in 2003. Her lucky star shines through as she was then spotted by the acclaimed director, Findo HW in a shopping mall where she immediately landed her first TV role in Tujuh Tanda Cinta (Seven Signs of Love). Born on March 22nd 1983, this Jakarta girl was on the fast track becoming one of the biggest superstars in one of the most populated nations in the world – and there is no stopping for this lass.Bunga Citra Lestari’s flair span from acting roles on TV screen, silver screen, as well as distinguished vocal performances in recording albums. Kumerindu, the first vocal collaboration with PAS Band, a popular Indonesian rock band, became a major stepping stone that leads to numerous major alliances with Indonesia’s top musicians such as Peter Pan, Ungu, Ratu, Nidji, Letto, Yovie Widianto, Slank, Krisdayanti, Ari Lasso and many more.
Even though Bunga, which literally translated as Flower, fast becoming a household brand name, it wasn’t until her hit song Cinta Pertama (Sunny) shot her to stardom. The theme song from the same titled movie turned into an overnight sensation when the single sold 75000 copies within 2 weeks and paved the red carpets for Bunga’s triumph in bagging home numerous awards, and positioned her in the A-List Singer of Indonesia.
Labeled as one of the most successful young artists, Bunga Citra Lestari is now better know as BCL, the acronym of her full name, bestowed by her millions of fans across the country. BCL is Bunga’s self titled, latest album in store.
Already a headline on her own, Bunga’s relationship with Malaysia’s model-turned-actor Ashraf Sinclair became the hottest celebrity story in 2008, in both Indonesia and Malaysia. The news of the long distance love affair, intertwined with gossips, rumors and hearsays made Bunga and Ashraf the talk of the towns and the darlings of the infotainment and the paparazzi – on daily basis. The couple brought the two cultures together when they tie the knot on November 8, 2008 with so much hype, many marked wedding of the year. Their sensational and wholesome true love story was documented in 3 short films, sponsored by Ponds, who made the two their product ambassadors.
